Select Hardwood: Choose dense, hard wood without any resin or sap.
Cut and Dry: Cut the wood Cut the wood into uniform pieces, usually between 100-120 cm long, diameter between 8-20 cm.
Arrange Wood Properly: arrange the wood carefully vertically. For a single burn with a capacity of 10 tons of wood, ensure the kiln is in good condition with no leaks that could affect the final product.
Loading: Load the kiln with wood evenly. Avoid over-packing as it can obstruct airflow and result in uneven burning.
Carbonization
Heating: Place the wood pieces inside the kiln. The carbonization process involves heating the wood at a high temperature in a low-oxygen environment. This usually requires temperatures between 1000°C and 1,200°C. all proses during 9-10 days.
Low Oxygen Carbonization: To achieve high-quality binchotan, removed into drum metal capacity 50-75 kg and sealing tightly to minimizing the amount of oxygen. The proses is 24 hours until temperature around 30-40 °C
Cooling and Weathering
Remove the Charcoal: Once cool, carefully remove the charcoal from drum metal, and placed to the dry area to prevent itu from absorbing moisture.
For weathering processes at our factory is 14 days
Finishing
Inspect and Clean: Inspect the charcoal for any impurities or irregularities.
Cutting: if the charcoal is in large chuncks, must cutting into smaller piece before sorting.
Sortir: sortir the charcoal classifying the charcoal pieces according to their dimensions.
Storage: Store the binchotan charcoal in a dry, airtight container to prevent it from absorbing moisture.
Steps to Make Wood Charcoal
(Black Charcoal)
Making wood charcoal involves a process called pyrolysis, where wood is heated in the absence of oxygen to remove moisture and volatile compounds, leaving behind carbon-rich charcoal.
